MAKE QUICK MONEY

Employers are increasingly willing to hire people to perform contract or project work from home.  One of the fields is Translation Services.

TRANSLATION SERVICES

If you are fluent in a foreign language (outside English), you can work from your home or in the community.  Most hospitals require translators in almost every foreign language.  Those individuals with fluency in more than one language has opportunities to translate audio tapes or documents … often from foreign countries.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook 2008-09 notes a projected employment increase of 24% from 2006 to 2016 for translators and interpreters.  You can learn about opportunities through Telelanguage (www.telelanguage.com), SDL (www.sdl.com) or The American Translators Association (www.americantranslatorsassociation.com) … they are all good places to start.

The qualifications, essentially, are you’ll need a complete computer, Internet connection, phone system and a quiet work area.

The hours are flexible … full time or part time. The pay range runs from $15 to $40 an hour for languages in high demand.  The highest paying jobs, generally, are in the management, scientific and technical consulting service areas.  However, for the beginner translator or interpreter the pay leans toward the lower end.
