The Franklin Park/Schiller Park Chamber of Commerce had a busy December. Early in the month, members were treated to a wonderful buffet dinner consisting of superb entrees, breads, appetizers and desserts prepared by the Triton College Culinary students at the new Cafe 64 (which is open to the public) located in the student building. This event was a joint event along with Chamber members from River Grove and Bensenville. During the evening, speakers told of some of the exciting programs that are or will be offered at Triton College.

Mid month had the chamber sponsoring a Christmas Lights Tour to Lincoln Park Zoo and then a visit to downtown Chicago for a fabulous view of holiday displays and the ever famous Christkindlmarket at Daley Plaza.  The popular, open to the public, event books fast and was a real bargain at only $15 per person. Be sure to plan on attending next year as seats fill up quickly.DSC07180

The Chamber then held its annual holiday luncheon at the Underpass Lounge in Franklin Park. The buffet lunch not only included great food, but entertainment from the Leyden High Schools Chamber Singers. They put on an entertaining and at times animated performance of traditional Christmas songs which was thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance. After a thoroughly enjoyable lunch, Ken Kollar took the oath of office again as the 2013 Chamber President. Also appointed and taking oaths were Dan Olson of Olson’s Ace Hardware as Vice President, Claudia Irsuto as Secretary from the Village of Schiller Park, Jim Angelico from First Merit Bank as Treasurer, and directors Karen Deal, First Merit Bank, Jill Finnigan, Reebie Storage, John Machonga, Charter One Bank, Samantha Nickelson, Pioneer Press, Barbara Piltaver, People & Places Newspaper, Joel Rayne, Coldwell Banker, George Sakas, Village of Schiller Park, Jackie Witt-Iovinelli, Park District of Franklin Park and Patricia Zinga of Triton College. The Chamber would also not function without the hard work of Exeuctive Secretary Gaye Faro-Lutz of Century 21 McMullen Real Estate, Inc. The Chamber looks forward to another productive year promoting businesses and continuing their work in the communities.  The Chamber encourages businesses to join and take part in the Chamber’s many events and educational programs throughout the year.
