DISTRICT 212 HOSTS WINTER INSTRUMENTAL CONCERT

District 212 will host the annual Winter Instrumental Concert on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium at West Leyden High School, 1000 Wolf Rd., Northlake.

The concert features 200 musicians from both campuses and includes Leyden’s Symphonic Band, the East Concert Band, the West Concert Band, and the String Orchestra.

The East and West concert bands combine for this concert, performing three compositions by prominent American composers. The Symphonic Band will perform a new composition by Rossano Galante as well as the classic Finale movement from Antonin Dvorak’s New World Symphony. The String Orchestra will perform Antonio Vivaldi’s Concerto in A Minor and J.S. Bach’s Sleepers Wake.

“A variety of instrumental literature is the evening’s theme,” says Bryan Miller, Music Department Chair. “It is exciting to see our students from each area of our program attain their performance goals successfully.”

The concert is free and the public is invited to attend. For more information, call 847-451-3049 and bmiller@leyden212.org.
