A FULL DAY OF ACTIVITES FOR ALL AGES!
ELMWOOD PARK – The Village is capping off its year of Centennial Celebrations with its first annual holiday stroll on Saturday, December 6, in the Village Circle. The event will provide both indoor and outdoor activities running from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m., culminating with a tree lighting ceremony.
“There will be activities all day,” Trustee Alan Kaminski said. “We’ll have photos with Santa, train rides, face painting, arts and craft vendors, and the Boy Scouts will be selling wreathes and hot chocolate throughout the day.”
The day begins with a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Elmwood Park Neighborhood Civic Organization (EPNCO) with Santa from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Parks and Recreation Center. The breakfast is free with a donation of one unwrapped toy valued at $10 or less. The Kiwanis will offer photos with Santa for a $3 donation and will collect canned goods to donate to local food pantries.
“It’s really a great way to spend all or part of the day, gathering with friends and neighbors and kicking off the holiday season on the right note,” Kaminski said. “I hope to see everyone there.”
Children can enjoy free train rides sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce around the circle from noon until 4 p.m. Activities from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. include an inflatable Candy Land obstacle course and a candy cane bounce house. Santa makes a return visit from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
In addition, food truck vendors will feature seasonal treats and beverages all afternoon while ice sculpture demonstrations take place between 1:30 and 4 p.m.
“Of course, the highlight of the day will be our official tree lighting ceremony at about 5:30,” Village President Skip Saviano said. “We’ll light all of our Village decorations together.”
The Holiday Stroll is sponsored by the Village of Elmwood Park, the Elmwood Park Neighborhood Civic Organization, the Lions Club, Kiwanis and the Monte Clare/Elmwood Park Chamber of Commerce. More information is available at the Village’s website.
