Elmwood Park Holiday Lighting Ceremony set for Dec. 1st
Elmwood Park Civic Chorus to lead carols
ELMWOOD PARK – Elmwood Park will herald the season with a Holiday Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, December 1st at 6 p.m. The event will take place in Central Park at 75th and Fullerton Avenues.
“This is a joyous event,” Village President Peter Silvestri said. “It’s always a wonderful time to come together as a community, delight in the beauty of the season, and remember all we have to be thankful for.”
Lighting of the Water Tower
Lights and decorations will be strung throughout Central Park, providing a stunning holiday display. The event will also mark the ceremonial lighting of the Elmwood Park Water Tower, visible for miles around.
The Elmwood Park Civic Chorus will be on hand to lead holiday carols. Hot chocolate and munchkin donuts will be served and Santa Claus will stop by to pose for photos and hand out candy canes.
“If you’re having trouble getting into the holiday spirit, you won’t after attending our lighting ceremony,” Silvestri said. “It’s the perfect start to the season.”
Breakfast with Santa
Earlier in the day, kids and families can enjoy Breakfast with Santa from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the small gym of the Elmwood Parks and Recreation Center, 2 Conti Parkway. The breakfast is sponsored by the Village of Elmwood Park and the Mont Clare/Elmwood Park Kiwanis.
There will be pictures with Santa, games, face painting and a book reading corner. Candy and delicious refreshments will be provided.
Meanwhile, the village’s new ice skating rink is set up at Bambi Park and ready for winter fun. Once the weather stays consistently cold, the rink will open for skaters. The new hockey rink in the village skate park on Fullerton Avenue opened last week and is already drawing dozens of kids.
