Full day of activities planned for Elmwood Park’s Centennial 4th of July
ELMWOOD PARK – This year’s Independence Day celebrations will feature a full day of activities for residents, beginning with the annual parade in the morning, followed by a 4th of July festival running throughout the afternoon and evening, and closing with a spectacular Centennial fireworks extravaganza!
The parade, featuring a variety of floats, musical entrants and community leaders, steps off at 10 a.m. just outside of Village Hall, 11 Conti Parkway.
“This year’s 4th of July festivities take on special meaning because of our Centennial Celebration,” Village President Angelo “Skip” Saviano said. “This will be a terrific way for long time residents and newcomers to come together and enjoy a great day and evening and celebrate our Village’s 100 year anniversary.”
The parade concludes at Elmwood Park High School, where residents are invited to gather for a day of food, games and activities, live music and the evening’s fireworks display. The first of three bands to perform will begin at 3 p.m. Vendors will be on hand selling hot dogs, pizza, tacos, beverages and a variety of snacks. Activities include a giant slide and a dunk tank.
The fest will kick off at noon at the high school with singer Amanda Schnoebelen performing the National  Anthem. In addition, the Village will recognize both the oldest resident as well as the longest residing resident of Elmwood Park.
The fireworks show begins at 9:35 p.m. and promises to be one of the most spectacular in the entire Chicago region.
