Village Trustee Forte steps down, Zivojnovic steps in
ELMWOOD PARK –  Village President Pete Silvestri has appointed Jonathan Zivojnovic as the newest Trustee on the Village Board, following the resignation of Trustee Carmen Forte. Zivojnovic, 32, is a local realtor and President of The Mont Clare-Elmwood Park Chamber of Commerce.
“I want to thank President Silvestri for giving me this opportunity, and I look forward to working with my fellow Trustees and the administration to continue to make Elmwood Park such a great place to live and work,” Zivojnovic said.
Forte has served as a Trustee since 1991. He read his letter of resignation to the Board at Monday’s meeting, stating that he was stepping down to devote more time to volunteer work and community service.
“I look forward to staying in Elmwood Park for many years, and to maintain an active role in our community,” Forte said. He said he hopes to spend much of his volunteer efforts at the Library and with youth-related programs.
Meanwhile, President Silvestri announced that the village will honor former Trustee Alan Bennett by renaming the 2700 block of 76th Court “Alan Bennett Way.” Bennett’s 37 years as Trustee make him the longest serving Trustee in village history. The official ceremony is set for 9 a.m. Monday at the corner of Diversey and 76th Court.
In other action, the Board approved contracts for this year’s sidewalk removal and replacement program, tree trimming, the tree planting program and the village’s asphalt repair program.
