Franklin Park Public Library District

We are located at 10311 Grand Avenue in Franklin Park, IL and offer a range of services and programs for children, teens and adults.  Further information is available at www.fppld.org or by calling 847-455-6016.

Unless otherwise noted, registration is required for ALL library programs.

February 1 – Harry Potter Book Night – Join us for a night of witchcraft and wizardry! Dress up as your favorite wizard, play games, make cool crafts, and try magical treats. All ages are welcome to take part in the wizarding world fun! 6:00-8:00 pm

February 2 – Parker’s Playtime – Join us for some open play! Children and their caregivers can use soft toys and manipulatives, puzzles, blocks, and building toys in a welcoming environment that fosters curiosity and learning. Ages 0-3 with caregiver. 10:00-11:00 am

February 2 – Minecraft Unplugged – Meet up with fellow Minecrafters and participate in some offline activities! Note: Although unplugged, you are welcome to bring your own device to show off your creations, with parental permission. Grades K and up. 4:30-5:30 pm

February 2 – Tabletop Gaming Club – If you enjoy playing various board games, then this is the program for you! Grab some friends and visit your library to play from a selection of classic and new tabletop games. This program is for teens and adults. 5:30-8:00 pm

February 3 – Arts & Snacks – Drop in for some art! Create a masterpiece at your library. We will have all sorts of art supplies available and a bunch of snacks to keep you going. This program is for teens & adults. 1:00-4:00 pm

February 7 – Library Quilt & Sew Club – Join us for casual discussion about quilting & sewing, and showing completed projects. We embrace all quilting and sewing skills. 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

February 8 – Full STEAM Ahead – Join us as we travel full STEAM ahead into science, technology, engineering, art, and math! Grades 1-3. 4:00-5:00 pm

February 9 – Parker’s Playtime – Join us for some open play! Children and their caregivers can use soft toys and manipulatives, puzzles, blocks, and building toys in a welcoming environment that fosters curiosity and learning. Ages 0-3 with caregiver. 10:00-11:00 am

February 9 – Friday Flicks – Join us each month to watch a newly released movie! This month’s movie is Stronger (R). Refreshments will also be available. 2:00-4:00 pm

February 9 – Friday Family Flicks – Join us each month for a family-friendly movie! This month’s movie is Brother Bear (G). Refreshments will also be available. 6:00-7:30 pm

February 10 – Friends of the Library Meeting – The Friends of the Franklin Park Library support the Franklin Park Library by providing volunteer services, sponsoring library events, and funding library programs. New members are always welcome. 9:30-11:00 am

February 10 – Knit & Crochet Group – New members always welcome! Join fellow crafters from every skill level. Learn tips and tricks and share projects you’re creating. 1:00-3:00 pm

February 10 – Anti-Valentine’s Party – Uncelebrate Valentine’s Day with crafts, food, and activities! Grades 7-12. 3:00-4:00 pm

February 12 – LEGO Club – If you are an experienced builder or a first timer, this is the place for you! We provide the LEGO bricks and monthly challenges; you provide the imagination. For kids of all ages. 4:00-6:00 pm

February 13 – Preschool Storytime – Join us for a themed storytime filled with stories, songs, and other activities that encourage a love of language and learning. Ages 4-5 with caregiver.  10:00-10:30 am

February 14 – Coding Club – Good at solving puzzles? Join us to experiment with coding and uncover all the wonderful things you can do with computers & robots! Grades 3-6. 4:00-5:00 pm

February 15 – STEAM Jr. – All the fun of Full STEAM Ahead for the younger set. There will be fun, hands-on experiments, so be prepared to get messy! Grades PreK-K. 4:00-5:00 pm

The Friends are offering a special deal: buy one of their reusable bags for $3 and fill it with as much as you want. Then, bring it back to future sales and fill it again for $3. 5:00-8:00pm

February 24 – Upcycled Book Art – Create something unique out of discarded books and supplies. Grades 7-12. 1:00-2:00 pm

February 27 – Preschool Storytime – Join us for a themed storytime filled with stories, songs, and other activities that encourage a love of language and learning. Ages 4-5 with caregiver.  10:00-10:30 am

February 27 – Practical Self-Defense for the Street – Self-defense expert Peter Honigmann joins us to discuss all aspects of self-defense, including observation and de-escalation, basic self-defense tactics and concepts, the use of improvised weapons to defend yourself, as well as the legal ramifications of using self-defense. He will also answer any questions regarding how to handle specific attacks or self-defense situations. 6:00-7:00 pm

February 28 – Playdough Playtime – Learn how to make playdough using different recipes and ingredients. Each person will receive playdough to play with and take home! Grades PreK-3. 4:00-5:00 pm
