HELP SAVE SOCIAL SERVICES

| September 22, 2015

On Thursday, September 24th, the Executive Committee in the Illinois House is scheduled to hear SB 2046 SFA #1. The bill contains funding for health and human services that have not been appropriated for in FY’16. The mental health and addiction services listed in the bill includes: psychiatrist services (psychiatric leadership), community-based addiction treatment services, services for the uninsured, mental health supportive housing and mental health crisis services.  The legislation also releases millions of dollars in fuel taxes to municipalities.

This bill (and adequate revenue) is needed in order to ensure access to care and treatment for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders and to prevent the current dismantling of the community system.
