Franklin Park Public Library District

Unless otherwise noted, registration is required for ALL library programs.

January 2 – Library Quilt & Sew Club – Join us for casual discussion about quilting & sewing, and showing completed projects. We embrace all quilting and sewing skills. 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

January 4 – Family Bingo – Wrap up winter break with a chance to win some awesome prizes during Family Bingo! All ages. 2:00-3:30 pm

January 5 – Arts & Snacks – Drop in for some art! Create a masterpiece at your library. We will have all sorts of art supplies available and a bunch of snacks to keep you going. This program is for teens and adults. 1:00-4:00 pm

January 7 – Meditation Station – Take a break and learn to unwind from your busy schedule by taking a moment to meditate. Grades 1-6. 4:00-5:00 pm

January 9 – Musical Munchkins – Explore the joys of music with your child. Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 5:00-6:00 pm

January 10 – Thursday Page Turners – Stop into your library and discuss popular non-fiction titles on the second Thursday afternoon of each month. This month we will be discussing The Monk of Mokha by Dave Eggers. Refreshments will be provided. Copies of the book can be picked up at the Circulation Desk a month before the meeting date.  2:00-3:00 pm

January 10 – Now You’re Cooking! – Have fun making yummy recipes and then sampling your culinary creations. Due to the popularity of this program, no walk-ins will be accepted. Grades 2-6. 4:00-5:00 pm

January 11 – Friday Flicks – Join us each month to watch a newly released movie! This month’s movie is Crazy Rich Asians (PG-13). Refreshments will also be available. 2:00-4:00 pm

January 11 – Tabletop Gaming Club – If you enjoy playing various board games then this is the program for you! Grab some friends and visit your library to play from a selection of classic and new tabletop games. This program is for teens and adults. 6:00-8:00 pm

January 12 – Friends of the Library Meeting – The Friends of the Franklin Park Library support the Franklin Park Library by providing volunteer services, sponsoring library events, and funding library programs. New members are always welcome. 9:30-11:00 am

January 12 – Knit & Crochet Group – New members always welcome! Join fellow crafters from every skill level. Learn tips and tricks and share projects you’re creating. 1:00-3:00 pm

January 12 – Faux Stained Glass Workshop – Choose a design or go freehand and create your own faux stained glass. Grades 6-12. 2:00-3:00 pm

January 16 – Library Quilt & Sew Club – Join us for casual discussion about quilting & sewing, and showing completed projects. We embrace all quilting and sewing skills. 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

January 14 – LEGO Club – If you are an experienced builder or a first timer, this is the place for you! During this drop-in program, we provide the LEGO bricks and monthly challenges while you provide the imagination. All ages. 4:00-6:00 pm

January 14 – Monday Mysteries – Come enjoy tea and cookies and talk about books on the second Monday of each month. This month, we will be discussing One of Us is Lying by Karen McManus. Copies of the book can be picked up at the Circulation Desk a month before the meeting date. 7:00-8:00 pm

January 15 – Night Owls – Join us for a storytime with your little owlets. There will be reading, singing, and playing. It will be a HOOT! Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 5:00-6:00 pm

January 16 – Coding Club – Stop by to experiment with coding and computers! Grades 1-6. 4:00-5:00 pm

January 17 – Get Crafty! – Get your craft on! You will have an opportunity to show off your crafting skills when you attend this make and take program. Grades 1-6. 4:00-5:00 pm

January 17 – Reel Cult Classics – Join us and watch the cult classic film from 1986, Labyrinth (PG). Enjoy popcorn and refreshments! Grades 6-12. 6:00-8:00 pm

January 18 – Morning Movers – Introduce your little ones to early literacy skills through reading, rhymes, songs and play. Ages 0-3 with caregiver. 10:00-11:00 am

January 18 – Nintendo Switch Club – Welcome all gaming fans! We will have our Nintendo Switch ready to play with the the new Super Smash Bros for our first meet up. Come for fun and feel free to bring your system along too. Grades 6 & up. 4:00-5:00 pm

January 19 – Friends Paint Party – Join the Friends for a special fundraiser at the Library and leave with your very own masterpiece. Tickets are $30 (non-refundable) and can be purchased at the Info Desk. 1:00-4:00 pm

January 21 – Bingocize – Have fun playing Bingo and winning prizes.  We’ll also get in a little light exercise (suitable for all skill levels and abilities). 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

January 21 – Fun-Ologies – Come explore interesting topics with Fun-Ologies! In January, learn about Wizardology. Grades 3-6. 4:30-5:30 pm

January 23 – Glow-in-the-Dark Storytime – Join us as we read stories, sing songs, and dance – in the dark! Grades PreK-3.  4:00-5:00 pm

January 24 – Cooking with the Kiddos – Introduce your child to the joys of food with a hands on cooking program for the younger crowd. Grades PreK-1 with caregiver. 5:00-6:00 pm

January 25 – Morning Movers – Introduce your little ones to early literacy skills through reading, rhymes, songs and play. Ages 0-3 with caregiver. 10:00-11:00 am

January 25 – Anime Club – Come join us at Anime Club! Draw and paint your own manga. Snack on delicious Japanese snacks and watch your favorite Anime. Grades 7-12. 6:00-7:30 pm

January 28 – Kids Advisory Board – It’s time to make your voice heard! Share your ideas with us so we can work together to make your library even better. Registration is required. Grades 1-6. 4:00-5:00 pm

January 29 – Night Owls – Join us for a storytime with your little owlets. There will be reading, singing, and playing. It will be a HOOT! Ages 0-5 with caregiver. 5:00-6:00 pm

January 30 – Craft with Me – Stop by to create a fun craft or two with your child. Ages 3-5 with a caregiver. 4:00-5:00 pm

January 30 – Introduction to Bullet Journaling – It’s a new year and the perfect time for you to get organized! Come learn how to start your own bullet journal, which is a sort-of cross between a planner, to do list, and a diary. We will supply you with a journal and a fine-line pen to get started and show you different ways to customize your bullet journal to fit your needs. This program is for teens and adults. Limit 24. Registration is required. 7:00-8:00 pm

January 31 – Cookies, Cocoa, and Crafts – Need a cozy place to be this winter? Visit the library for cookies, cocoa, and a craft. All ages. 4:00-5:00 pm
