January 2 – Lego Club – Do you love Legos and Duplos? Are you a master at building spaceships and towers? Come build with us in this exciting program! Ages 4-years-old and up.  6:00 – 7:00pm

January 3 – Holiday Movie Marathon – Missing the holidays already? Come celebrate one more time with our all-day holiday movie marathon! We’ll be showing 6 holiday movies back-to-back. Treats will also be provided. All ages.  10:00am – 8:30pm

January 4 – Franklin Bark Readers – Looking for a fun way to boost your reading skills while making a furry new friend? Choose a book and read to Bingley, Bloomberg, Breeze, or Emmy, certified therapy dogs and members of Therapy Dogs International. Space is limited so be sure to sign up early!  Registration is required. Ages 5-years-old and up.  11:00am – 12:00pm

January 10 – 2nd Friday Flicks – Join us on the second Friday afternoon of each month for a new movie release! This month, we’re viewing “Prisoners” starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal. It is Rated R and has a running time of 153 minutes. Refreshments will also be available. Registration is strongly suggested.  1:00 – 3:00pm

January 11 – Friends of the Library Meeting – The Friends of the Franklin Park Library group is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to support the Franklin Park Library by providing volunteer services, sponsoring programming and events, and funding library programs. This group is made up of any interested individuals in the Franklin Park community and the local area. If you are interested in becoming a Friend, email friends@fppld.org or come to our meeting.   9:30 – 11:00am

January 11 – Knit & Crochet Club – New members always welcome! Join fellow crafters from every skill level. Learn tips and tricks and share projects you’re creating.  1:00 – 3:00pm

January 13 – Fiction Book Club – We will be discussing the book My Name is Mary Sutter by Robin Oliveira. Pick up your copy at the Circulation Desk starting a month before the discussion date. Then join us for a lively discussion. Treats will be served, too. Registration is required.  7:00 – 8:00pm

January 14 – Library Board Meeting – Board meetings are open to the public. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month. 7:30 – 8:30pm

January 15 – Friendship Quilting Club – Join us for crafting and camaraderie. Whether you are a newcomer or a long-time enthusiast, you are invited to learn new techniques, talk about fabrics and share patterns.  10:00am – 12:00pm

January 16 – Baby Storytime – Let’s sing, dance, and read together in this storytime designed for our youngest patrons: babies. Registration is required. Ages 3-months to 24-months old.  10:00 – 11:00am

January 17 – Twos & Threes Storytime – Let’s sing, dance, and read together in this storytime for toddlers and their caregivers. Registration is required. Ages 2 to 3-years-old.  10:00 – 11:00am

January 18 – Fill Out Your FAFSA – The Illinois Student Assistance Commission will be at the Library to help you complete your FAFSA application. Lunch will be served. Registration is required.  1:00 – 3:00pm

January 20 – Giant Board Games – Have you ever wanted to be the dog in Monopoly, or a Knight in a game of Chess? Well, here is your opportunity! Come make and play a life-size board game with us. And for those who are less adventurous, we will have regular sized board games and the Wii console available to play. All Ages.  11:00am – 3:00pm

January 21 – Affordable Care Act Presentation – Representatives from Leyden Family Services & The Share Program join us to discuss the assistance they provide to people who need to enroll for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. Registration is strongly suggested.  6:00 – 7:00pm

January 22 – Snuggle Up With a Book – We transform our storytime room into a comfy and cozy nook for you to get lost in your favorite book. Reach your winter reading goal by bringing your own book, or read some of the books in the room. All Ages.  9:00am – 8:30pm

January 25 – Zumba @ the Library – Certified Zumba instructor and Franklin Park resident Dana Trampas will stop by the library to offer free Zumba classes for people ages 13 and up (under 18 with parental permission). Be prepared to sweat and have fun! Registration is required.  11:00am – 12:00pm

January 27 – Teen Advisory Board Meeting – Interested in making a difference at the library? Want to have a say over programs and services offered to you? Become a member of TAB! This month, we’ll talk about your design ideas for the Teen Square. Ages 13 to 17-years-old. Registration is strongly suggested.  6:00 – 7:00pm

January 29 – Preschool Storytime – Come sing, dance, and read in this interactive and engaging storytime for preschoolers! Ages 3 to 5-years-old. Registration is strongly suggested.  7:00 – 8:00pm

January 29 – Snowball Fight – Build a fort, make your newspaper snowballs, complete challenges with your team, and join us in an hour long newspaper snowball battle! No need to wear snow gear, this snowball fight is entirely indoors. Ages 5 to 9-years-old. Registration is strongly suggested.  7:00 – 8:00pm
