FOR THE NEWCOMER; If you are new to Networking and/or the job search, join us at St. Hubert, 6:00pm, prior to our regular meetings (on the second and fourth Monday of each month). We’ll offer a one hour program on how to use a networking meeting effectively, the tools you’ll need such as; The Elevator Speech; How to do a Handbill, and how to generate the contacts you need.

March 9, 2013 – “Resume Review – 9:00am to 11:00am. Orchard Evangelical Free Church, 1330 Douglas, Arlington Hts., IL. Bring your resume for a personal evaluation by one of six HR, Search, or Career Counselors who will be on hand to give you their thoughts and suggestions. Bring a friend.

March 11, 2013 –“Instant Relationships” – 7:00pm to 9:15pm, St. Hubert Ministry Center, 729 Grand Canyon, Hoffman est., IL  we will have Jim Waszak with us. Jim will present a program that will help us to secure and cement relationships that can be critically important to our effectively networking and our job seeking productivity.

March 19, 2013 – “Career Help For The College Graduate – Tuesday, 6:30pm to 9:30pm – Roselle United Methodist Church, 206 S. Rush Street., Roselle, IL. Following up on this successful program – we are again offering the opportunity for 2010 to 2014 College Graduates to participate in a careering workshop that has benefited others who have attended. You will learn all the key actions needed to be successful in reaching your employment goals. The workshop will be conducted by Bob Placko, former Sr. VP of HR with Motorola, who also brings his Carthage College faculty background to the relevance of the material presented.

March 23, 2013 – “5 Tools That Can Turn Around Tough Interviews” – Sat. 9:00am to Noon, Countryside Unitarian Church, 1025 N. Smith Street, Palatine, IL. Jody Ericksen, well known career coach and presenter, will address a needed topic that is essential to interviewing effectively. Difficult interviews happen and we need to understand how to move away from a negative direction to the positive. Join us for this excellent subject.

March 25, 2013 – “Twitter Jobs – How to use it” – 7:00pm tom 9:15pm, St. Hubert Ministry Center, 729 Grand Canyon, Hoffman Estates. Bruce Bixler, social media expert will take us through an interactive Twitter job search to show how this tool has grown in popularity and results for job seekers.

April 6, 2013 – “Using Job Loss To Find Your Next Career” – 9:00am to 12 Noon – St. Marcelline Church, 820 S. Springinsguth, Schaumburg, IL. Jean Kripton Dunham, Career Coach and well regarded presenter will show us the steps to take following our separation that will lead us to that next career.

April 8, 2013 – “The Biggest Career Time Wasters” – 7:00pm to 9:15pm – St. Hubert Ministry Center, 729 Grand Canyon, Hoffman Estates, IL. As we travel through our careers and job campaigns, there are a lot of missteps we can avoid to keep us on track and landing a new position faster. Find out what these are and heed them.  Presented by our coordinator, Bob Podgorski.

April 22, 2013 – “Your Image Counts” – 7:00pm to 9:15pm – St. Hubert Ministry Center, 729 Grand Canyon, Hoffman Estates, IL. Giving us the latest insight into image improvement and candidate image expectation will be Jill Bremmer.  Jill addressed the Job Ministry a few years ago to give a similar presentation. It was exceptional as we learned some tricks and tips to appear younger, eager, engaged and fully energized.

April 27, 2013 –“Getting the Interview & Nailing It!” – 9:00am to 12 Noon – Community Presbyterian Church, 407 N. Main Street, Mount Prospect IL. Join us as Keith Owen, speaker and presenter in careering, will discuss the interview process and addresses how to attract an employer as well as assure making that right impression start of interview to finish. Informal networking will follow the presentation.

May 2, 2013 – “Writing A Killer Resume” – 7:00pm to 9:00pm – Village Presbyterian Church, 1300 Shermer Road, Northbrook, IL We pleased to have Laura Milligan back with us. Laura is the President of ResuMayday, a career consulting firm. Laura will talk about some of the latest trends in resume writing and how to get noticed by an employer for that competitive edge above the competition.

Bill Burnett, a former member and guest presenter will take us through the interviewing process with an eye for greater success. This is where the final step can be crucial to making that final cut and receiving the offer. Don’t miss these pointers and hints at how to overcome the barriers to interview excellence.

May 25, 2013 – “Goal Planning Workshop – 9:00am to 12 Noon – Church of the Holy Spirit, 1451 Bode Rd. Schaumburg, IL. Often missed in the careering process is a solid look at our goals and objectives. Career goal setting is critical as a FIRST STEP and shouldn’t be an afterthought. Our presenter is Tom Lemanski, marketing professional and career advisor

May 27, 2013 – MEMORIAL DAY – No Monday meeting. We will resume our regular meeting schedule on June 10th.
