July 1 – Tween Scene – All month long we will be experimenting, being a little more “Green,” and having fun with food! Ages 9 – 12-years-old. 6:00-7:00pm

July 2 – Friendship Quilting Club – Join us for crafting and camaraderie. Whether you are a newcomer or a long-time enthusiast, you are invited to learn new techniques, talk about fabrics and share patterns. 10:00am-12:00pm

July 2 – Summer Reading Movie Day – Join us for science-themed movies! Today, we’ll watch E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (PG). Snacks will also be available. All ages. 2:00-4:00pm

July 3 – Science Club – Calling all scientists! Join us for wacky explosions and a trip to Mars. Harvest lighting and make your own lava lamp. There is all this and much more happening all summer in Science Club! Ages 6 – 8-years-old. 2:00-3:00pm

July 3 – Little Eagles Storytime – Preschool and kindergarten students and their caregivers are invited to this special storytime led by Leyden High School students and the Library’s Teen Advisory Board. Ages 3 – 5-years-old. 2:00-3:00pm – OR – 6:00-7:00pm

July 7 – Bugs, Beetles, & Bookworms – Learn about wings and stings and crawly things from The Science Alliance! Tickets are required to enter. Visit the Kids Crossing Desk to receive tickets for this event. All ages. 3:00-4:00pm – OR – 6:00-7:00pm

July 9 – Zoo to You: Urban Wildlife – Learn about the wildlife living in your neighborhood during this presentation by experts from Cosley Zoo in Wheaton. All ages. 6:00-7:00pm

July 11 – Friday Flicks – Join us on Fridays each month to watch a newly released movie! This month’s movie is Non-Stop (PG-13), starring Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore. Refreshments will also be available. 2:00-3:45pm

July 12 – Zumba® @ the Library – Certified instructor Dana Trampas stops by the Library to lead our free Zumba® class for people ages 13 and up (under 18 with parental permission). Registration is required. 11:00am-12:00pm

July 12 – Knit & Crochet Group – New members always welcome! Join fellow crafters from every skill level. Learn tips and tricks and share projects you’re creating. 1:00-3:00pm

July 14 – Fiction Book Club – We will be discussing the book 44 Scotland Street by Alexander McCall Smith. Pick up your copy at the Circulation Desk starting a month before the discussion date. Registration is required. 7:00-8:00pm

July 24 – The Science and Understanding of the 5 Mother Sauces – Chef Michael Maddox returns for another delicious program! He’ll show us how science is involved with the construction of these essential sauces and how variations can be made to enhance many dishes. There is a $5 non-refundable tasting fee and a limit of 35 people for this program. Registration must be done in person. 6:00-7:30pm

July 25 – Anime Club – Watch your favorite anime, draw your own manga, and, of course, feast on Japanese snacks! Ages 13 – 17-years-old. 6:00-7:00pm

July 26 – End of Summer Reading Party – Let’s close out this year’s Summer Reading Program with a bang! Find out who this year’s Grand Prize winners were at the party. Join us for ice cream, face painting, photo booth fun, and music from Wendy and DB! This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council Agency. 1:00-4:00pm
