JG’s Reptile Road Show Monday, July 1 at 3 pm & 6 pm Meet reptiles from across the globe when Jim Galeno brings a fun, educational, interactive, and hands-on experience with these exciting creatures to the library. Lapsit Storytime Fridays, July 5, 12, and 19 at 11 am Let’s sing, dance, and read together in this storytime designed for the library’s youngest patrons, babies, and toddlers. Ages 0 months – 3 years.
Family Game Day Fridays, July 5 and 19 at 1 pm Want to show off your “Just Dance” moves? Are you a “Mario Kart” expert? Is the dog your favorite piece in “Monopoly?” Whatever skills you have, we want you to play with us! We will have a variety of board and Wii games ready to be played. All ages.
Storytime Wednesdays, July 3, 10, and 17 at 2 pm and 7 pm AND Thursdays, July 11, and 18 at 2 pm and 7 pm Let’s sing, dance, and read together in this interactive and engaging summer storytime session! Parents are invited to attend this program with their child to help them learn the important skills required to get them ready to read. Ages 2 – 4 years.
Little Travelers Wednesdays, July 3, 10, and 17, at 2 pm and 7 pm Pack up and fly away with us as we “travel” to different countries and cultures in this interactive program for elementary age children. Ages 5 – 8 years.
Friday Family Flick Friday, July 12 at 1 pm If you have ever dreamed of travelling up a Beanstalk you will want to see this week’s Family Flick. Rated PG-13, 114 minutes. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Getting Excited About Science with Steve Belliveau Monday, July 15 at 2 pm & 7 pm Don’t miss this fast-paced science show! Steve Belliveau will present exciting experiments incorporating large props, music, humor, audience participation, and FUN! Tickets are required for these events. Visit the Kids Information Desk to sign up and receive a ticket.
Little Explorers Thursdays, July 11 and 18 at 2 pm and 7 pm Are you curious? Do you love tackling new challenges? Come explore the books in the library with us. Be prepared to get hands-on each week with a different section of the Dewey Decimal System. From cooking to science projects, crafting to writing, this program has it all! Ages 5 – 8 years.
Storytime Wednesday, July 24 at 2 pm and 7 pm We will celebrate the end of the summer reading program with a storytime dance party! Ages 0-8. We urge parents to bring their cameras, there are sure to be many precious moments.
Friday Family Flick Friday, July 26 at 1 pm This Friday’s Flick “has crooks, bats, cobwebs, skeletons, a lovable monster, an underground grotto and a treasure hidden by some of the most considerate, clue-loving pirates who ever lived.” Rated PG – 114 minutes. Skype with author Marissa Meyer! Teen Event Tuesday, July 16 at 4 pm Marissa Meyer, author of the 2014 Abe nominee Cinder, will be joining us live via Skype to talk about her books and writing process. Teens participating in the Summer Reading Program can earn an extra raffle entry by attending!

Tech Help Drop-In Mondays, July 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29 from 5:30 – 8:30 pm If you need assistance with completing specific technology-related tasks (email, e-books, e-anything) and aren’t sure where to begin, our Information & Digital Services staff is here to help! Drop-Ins are available Monday evenings and are first come, first served. Check-in with the Information Desk.
Friendship Quilt Club Wednesdays, July 3 & 17 at 10 am Come share quilting tips and projects with other quilters! Beginners are always welcome.
Book Clubs! Monthly, join us! The Book Club has been split up into two groups, representing Fiction and Non- fiction books. The Fiction Book Club will meet next, in July. Copies of these books are available at the Circulation Desk one month before the discussion date.

Friends of the Franklin Park Library Saturday, July 13 at 9:30 am Attend our monthly Friends meeting and help us get the 2013 Summer Reading Program off to a great start. The Friends support the Library through volunteerism, fund-raising activities and sponsorship of programs and activities. The Friends meet the second Saturday of each month at 9:30 am in the Library. New members are always welcome. Your membership offers you the opportunity to share thoughts, donate your time, or lend your talents.
Knit & Crochet Group Saturday, July 13 at 1 pm Join us on the second Saturday of each month to learn tips for knitting and crocheting or to share projects you’re working on.
European Culinary Tour Tuesday, July 23 at 7:00pm Chef Michael Maddox returns to present his “European Culinary Tour.”This program features recipes with tastings from each of the following countries: France, Italy, Spain, and Germany. Spend an evening enjoying some of Europe’s greatest treasures. There is a $3.00 fee for this program. Registration must be done in person.
