LuLu Belle’s Newest Restaurant in Franklin Park

| January 1, 2013

The formerUnderConsNew2 Encore Restaurant in Franklin Park at the corner of Mannheim Road and Belmont Ave has new owners and will in January have a new name – LuLu Belle’s. The original LuLu Belle’s is located at 3819 Southport in Chicago and advertises itself as “Downhome Southern with a modern twist.” Dimetri who is the owner remembers driving past Encore as a child and saying he would like to someday own that restaurant. Well, come January, a new sign will be going up announcing the new name and “under new management.” He told me he is looking forward to welcoming back former customers and working to make LuLu Belle’s a favorite place to visit in the village. He takes pride in the cleanliness of his restaurant and said he learned to be a perfectionist from his father who taught him everything about the restaurant business. Chef Kyle and his sister Rita will be waiting to welcome you too.

Although Dimetri is the owner of the restaurant, the person I spoke with to get more information on it was an extremely interesting woman named Virginia Boyd. Virginia was the type of person you could sit and talk to for hours and never get bored. Her life story was an inspirational one which led to her association with LuLu Belle’s. She’s in the design business and was contracted by Dimetri to choose colors and help decorate the original LuLu Belle’s in Chicago. Dimetri intends on continuing what Lulu Belle’s is famous for and that’s delicious food, great service and a friendly “farm-like” atmosphere. Since LuLu Belle’s inception, Virginia has been publishing the LuLu Belle’s monthly Gazette. “All the “Moo’s” that’s fit to print.” LuLu Belle the cute little cow pictured on their logo was the creation of Virginia along with LuLu’s family such as Uncle Homer, Aunt Nellie, Chef Barney and others. Every month the gazette features specials, tales from the farm, tidbits of information and more. Virginia tells me that LuLu is excited to make her home in Franklin Park and can’t wait for all the renovations to be completed. She knows Franklin Park is a friendly place for LuLu and her family to settle down in. LuLu Belle invites everyone to stop by for some delicious coffee and down-home cooking. LuLu Belle’s offers homemade soups every day along with senior specials with a breakfast special of 2 eggs, 2 cakes and choice of 2 bacon or 2 sausages for $4.95! All dinner specials are served with homemade soups and choice of Jello or rice pudding.

LuLu Belle’s is located at 3147 N. Mannheim Road in Franklin Park; family oriented, children always welcome. Open daily, 365 days a year 7 am to 3 pm. Plenty of seating and parking available.
