MaShayla Kirksy Commits to DePaul University

Kirksy ready for Big East competition

Melrose Park – 5/20/13 Walther Lutheran High School is proud to announce that Senior MaShayla Kirksy has signed a letter of intent to DePaul University.“I chose to attend DePaul University because it is a great learning environment. The urban campus and family atmosphere make it a special college,” Kirksy responded when asked about her college decision. She added, “Walther has prepared me academically and athletically to compete at this next level. I am looking forward to working hard and helping the DePaul Track program continue its success. I want to establish DePaul as a prominent name in the new Big East Conference.”

DePaul University Head Track Coach Dave Dopek had this to say about Kirksy, “We are very excited about having MaShayla join our athletic family next year. We expect that she will bring much energy and talent to our program as we enter our newly configured conference. She has tremendous talent and a great competitive attitude. Both of which will serve her well as she furthers her career athletically and academically at DePaul university.”

MaShayla Kirksy lives in Bolingbrook, and attended St. John Lutheran, LaGrange before transitioning to high school at Walther. In addition to leading the Lady Broncos track team  to three consecutive 2ndPlace in State finishes, she was a key player in the 4th place State finish by the 2013 basketball team. Additionally she is an active member of the Walther Student Council and National Honors Society.
