May 1 – Lego “Star Wars” Building Challenge – Kids and their caregivers can help us build Star Wars themed displays. There will be a random winner and will have their creation displayed in the kids department! All ages. 6:00-8:00pm

May 2 – Hidden Star Wars – Educator and film aficionado Steven Frenzel joins us for this thrilling insider’s peek at one of the most beloved film series in the galaxy. All ages. Registration is required. 7:00-8:00pm

May 7 – Friendship Quilting Club – Join us for crafting and camaraderie. Whether you are a newcomer or a long-time enthusiast, you are invited to learn new techniques, talk about fabrics and share patterns. 10:00am-12:00pm

May 8 – Handmade Green Spa Gifts – Need a special gift for Mother’s Day? Join Eleanor Reily as she teaches us how to make Beautiful Body Oil, Citrus Bath Salts and Rosemary Mint Shower Gel. Limit 20 people. Registration is required. 7:00-8:00pm

May 9 – Friday Flicks – Join us on Fridays each month to watch a newly released movie! This month’s movie is Philomena (PG-13), starring Judi Dench and Steve Coogan. Refreshments will also be served. 1:00-2:40pm

May 9 – Friends of the Library Meeting – The Friends of the Franklin Park Library support the Franklin Park Library through volunteerism, fundraising activities and sponsorship of programs and activities. New members are always welcome. 6:00-7:00pm

May 10 – Knit & Crochet Group – New members always welcome! Join fellow crafters from every skill level. Learn tips and tricks and share projects you’re creating. 1:00-3:00pm

May 12 – Fiction Book Club – We will be discussing the book A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. Pick up your copy at the Circulation Desk starting a month before the discussion date. Registration is required. 7:00-8:00pm

May 15 – Little Eagles Storytime – Preschool and kindergarten students and their caregivers are invited to this special storytime led by Leyden High School students and the Library’s Teen Advisory Board. Ages 3 – 5-years-old. 6:00-7:00pm

May 15 – Dewey Discovery – Do you know all the planets in the solar system? Are you a mad scientist? Join us as we explore the nonfiction section of the library. Ages 6 – 8-years-old. 6:00-7:00pm

May 16 – Friday Flicks – Join us on Fridays each month to watch a newly released movie! This month’s movie is The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (PG-13), starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth. Refreshments will also be served. 6:00-8:30pm

May 23 – Anime Club – Talk about your favorite anime and discuss the best manga. Watch anime and enjoy yummy Japanese snacks. Ages 13 – 17-years-old. 6:00-7:30pm

May 24 – Zumba® @ the Library – Certified instructor Dana Trampas stops by the Library to lead our free Zumba® class for people ages 13 and up (under 18 with parental permission). Registration is required. 11:00am-12:00pm

May 31 – Summer Reading Program Kickoff Party – Kick off the 2014 Summer Reading Program in style with food, fun, and entertainment courtesy of a very special guest! 1:00-4:00pm
