Cook County Offers Memorial Markers for Loved Ones

| January 1, 2013

Cook County announced a new program that will allow families to purchase a memorial market near the site of a DUI fatality to commemorate the loss of their loved one.

The DUI Memorial Program is offered in Cook County to provide families an opportunity to safely commemorate a loved one who died as a proximate result of a crash caused by an impaired driver under the influence of alcohol, other drug or drugs, intoxicating compound or compounds, or any combination thereof, as well as to raise the public’s awareness of the consequences of driving while impaired under the influence.  The county installed the first memorial sign on the anniversary of Oleg Oleinik’s death in mid-October.
