Communities Matter @ Your Library National Library Week April 14 – 21, 2013
Many merchants in Franklin Park will be participating in a “Show Your Library Card” campaign. They will be offering discounts and freebies to library card-holders who display their FP library card during the week. Check the library’s website (www.fppld.org) for the most current list of participating Franklin Park businesses. Make sure to visit the library to show your support.

National Library Week celebrates the rich social and cultural heritage that libraries bring to Americans. Events at the Franklin Park Library are aimed at celebrating and strengthening our community . They include:
• Week-long Events
o A gift card raffle for people signing up or using their Franklin Park Library Cards
o “Buy Local” campaign sponsored by the Friends of the Franklin Park Library and aimed at encouraging Franklin Park residents to become Library Card holders
o A “Food for Fines” exchange (1 non-perishable food item = $1.00 ) to benefit local food pantries.
o A cookbook sale sponsored by the Friends of the Franklin Park Library
• An evening of entertainment featuring Hester Junior High’s BASSically TREBLE –Monday at 6 pm
• A Book Discussion of Jeannette Walls’ The Glass Castle – Tuesday at 7 pm
• A celebration of quilts and quilting – online presentation – Wednesday at 10 am
• A celebration of the Franklin Park Women’s Club which founded the library over 120 years ago. – Thursday at 7 pm.
• Family Game Event on Saturday at 3 pm
