Open House CMAP meeting held in Northlake

| March 22, 2013

On March 6th, 2013 a Northlake Comprehensive Plan Open House was held in the Northlake Public Library. With over 30 in attendance, including residents, business owners, as well as elected and appointed officials, the meeting was a great success. Residents and other stakeholders had the opportunity to view draft plans and recommendations. Although most attendees spoke about their comments, discussed the plans with Steering committee members and the Project Team Staff, some did provide written comments. Some comments written and verbal were in regards to when the proposed projects would happen.  Future land use involving parks, updating commercial activity along North Avenue, and industrial development were commented on. Comment s were made for moving forward on the potential off-ramp from the Tollway. Concern for the reduction of flooding conditions along the creek were stated as an important project. Improvement was suggested for an updated look of Northlakes businesses along North Avenue and its frontage roads. A stronger code enforcement was commented on along with the railroad painting its bridges over Lake Street.

Due to the fact that no significant changes were suggested by attendees, a recommendation was made to move forward with the current draft for a formal public hearing date yet to be announced.
