Elmwood Park

Battery

– An Elmwood Park man was arrested on February 13th and charged with battery. Michael Howard, of the 2300 block of North 76th Street, is alleged to have head butted and spit on another man in the first block of Conti Parkway.

Drugs

– A Chicago man was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the 2800 block of 76th Court on February 23rd.

Theft

– On March 2nd, a 54 year old Elmwood Park man was arrested and charged with retail theft after allegedly taking items from Caputo’s Fresh Market on Grand Ave., without paying for them.

Cyberstalking

February 19 – A Chicago man was arrested by Elmwood Park police and charged with cyberstalking, domestic battery and harassment by telecommunication after a victim alleged she was harassed for several months over the internet and via email. The case is still under investigation.

 

Franklin Park

Theft

– Three men have been arrested and charged with theft after they allegedly tried to steal over 200 pounds of scrap metal from Scot Forge on Belmont Avenue. Gary Anderson Sr., Gary Anderson Jr., and Ryan Anderson all of the first block of Whitehall Dr. in Northlake were arrested on February 19th. The metal has a value worth $600-$900.

Traffic Violation

March 13 – Police charged Edgar Chilel, 28 of Chicago after he was pulled over and found to have no valid driver’s license, no proof of insurance and driving with a revoked license.

March 4 – A 27 year old Skokie man was charged with driving a motor vehicle with suspended registration plates, operating an uninsured vehicle and driving with a defective windshield while driving on the 9500 block of Franklin Avenue.

March 2 – After disobeying a stop sign near Ruby and Pacific, Theresa MaCortez of Franklin Park was also charged with not having a driver’s license.

Vandalism

March 9-11 – A total of seven vehicles were damaged when owners reported having their car windows broken. The incidents occurred on the 3000 block of Scott Street, 2900 block of Rose Street, 9700 block of Schiller Blvd., 3000 block of Ruby Street, and 9600 block of Schiller Blvd. Police are investigating similar incidents in Elmwood Park and River Forest.

Burglary

March 21 – Franklin Park Police responded to a burglar alarm and arrested two men and charged them with residential burglary. The incident took place on the 2400 block of Lincoln Street. Both men were arrested within minutes of responding to the alarm. The suspects were carrying items identified by the homeowner and valued at approximately $1,000. Eric Avila, 17 and Armando Guerrero, 18, both of Melrose Park had court dates on March 25.

Northlake

Drugs

– A 26 year old Melrose Park man was charged with misdemeanor possession of Marijuana on February 20th. Police officers report to have found twelve small bags of marijuana, totaling six grams. The incident occurred at Wolf Rd. and North Ave.

March 1 – After being pulled over for disobeying a stop sign, Cesar Rivera, 18 of Northlake was charged with possession of a controlled substance when police found 4 grams of suspected cocaine and 2 pills that were suspected to be Ectasy.

March 2 – Police charged Hermilo-Ramirez of Stone Park with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver after a traffic stop and 2 grams of cocaine were discovered.

March 14 – Police charged a woman with possession of a controlled substance on Roy Avenue near North Avenue, when they found 0.2 grams of a white powdery substance tentatively identified as heroin. A court date for Dulce Sandoval of Melrose Park is scheduled for April 9.

Theft

March 12 – $158 of merchandise was allegedly stolen from the Walmart on North Avenue by Heather Beck, 23 and Abel Ruvalcaba, 18.

March 10 – Antwain Rogers, 30 of Chicago was charged with retail theft

Traffic Violation

February 26 – After striking a bus with six special education students in it, a 19 year old Northlake man was charged with driving too fast for conditions and driving without a valid license. No one was injured.

Norridge

Child Endangerment

– A 42 year old woman from the 4200 block of North Crescent Avenue, was charged on March 2nd with child endangerment. She is accused of leaving two children alone in a vehicle, which was parked in the 4800 block of Cumberland Avenue.

Battery

– An 18 year old Chicago girl was charged with battery on February 19th after a police investigation stemming from an incident that occurred in a parking lot in the 4100 block of Harlem Avenue.

– An incident occurring in the 7600 block of Gunnison street led to the arrest of a 42 year old Norridge man. Police have charged him with battery and he is to appear in court on April 5th.

Drugs

– Miguel Aucedo, 19, of the 2400 block of 1st Avenue, River Grove, Was arrested and charged on March 4th for possession of Marijuana and criminal trespass to property. He has been accused of illegally entering a garage on the 4100 block of Olcott Avenue.

Fraud

– Martin Gurgul, 32, of the 7800 block of Forest Preserve Drive, was charged on February 27th with felony deceptive practices. The man is accused of cashing five fraudulent checks between January 27th and February 1st at a Norridge currency exchange.

Theft

– A 48 year old Chicago woman was charged on February 17th with felony theft after she is alleged to leave Kohl’s on Harlem Avenue without paying for jewelry, shoes and scarves worth $350.

After a police investigation, a 28 year old Chicago man was charged on February 12th with driving on a suspended license and theft. The man is accused of leaving Kmart on November 7th without paying for a DVD player worth $100.

– A 40 year old Chicago woman was charged on March 1st with felony theft. She is accused of leaving Carson’s on Harlem Ave, with $230 worth of merchandise she had not paid for

Harwood Heights

Drugs

– A 24 year old Harwood Heights man was charged with driving on a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop on February 23rd.

Park Ridge

DUI / Accident

– A Park Ridge man has been accused of drunk driving in connection with an accident that occurred on December 22nd in the 300 block of West Cedar Street. Colin Garvey, 19, of Park Ridge lost control of his Jeep and hit a tree. The accident seriously injured two people. Garvey was not injured in the crash.

Robbery

– Police report that on the night of March 16th, a man with a knife robbed a Dunkin Donuts at 1129 Touhy Avenue of an undisclosed amount of money. The robber is described as a white male, about 5’5” and wearing a gray hoodie. He used a blue scarf to cover the lower portion of his face. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call the Park Ridge police.

Schiller Park

Check Fraud

– The director of the Schiller Park Library contacted police on February 19th, to report check fraud and forgery against the library checking account. She informed police that in December 2012 while reviewing her bank transaction report, she noticed four check numbers had been duplicated for differing amounts. Upon further inspection, it was determined that the four checks were made illegally with the correct routing and account numbers. Chase bank was contacted about the forged checks and began an investigation. However On January 25th, the director of the library received a letter from Chase bank that the investigation was being closed and to contact the libraries insurance company.

The checks were made out to two women who cashed the checks at various Chase banks where they were fingerprinted in order to cash them. The fraudulent checks totaled over $9,000. Schiller Park Detectives followed up on the report and arrested two women, Tyeshia Crosby of Bellwood, and Ebonee Moss of Maywood. The women are reported to have told police they were given the checks by a man who drove them to the banks to cash, and in return he gave them a few hundred dollars per check. Both women have been charged with two counts of felony forgery.

Theft

– Police were contacted on February 17th by a man who rents a storage locker at Public Storage, 9700 Irving Park Road. The man relayed to police that his storage locker had been burglarized and that three motorcycle helmets and three leather motorcycle jackets were missing. The victim stated he had last been at his storage locker on February 2nd and nothing was missing at that time. He told police only he and his father have a key to gain access. The lock was engaged on the roll up door and an evidence technician could find no sign of forced entry.

– On March 8th, a woman on the 4000 block of Kolze Avenue contacted police to report a delayed theft. The woman ordered a Cuisinart food processor that was delivered to her doorstep on August 2nd 2012. However the woman reported never receiving the package. She delayed reporting the theft because she was hoping to resolve the issue with Cuisinart and UPS without getting the police involved.

Fatal Accident

– In the early hours of March 23rd, a woman attempted to pass a slow moving vehicle in a Southbound lane in the 5800 block of Mannheim Rd. using the shoulder, when she is accused of hitting a motorist who was pulled over on the side of the road after his car ran out of gas. Marek Bajson, 49, of Chicago was struck and killed. The impact propelled him more than 30 feet onto the road, killing him instantly. Bajson had called a friend to bring him gas, and his friend was driving behind Perry’s car at the time of the incident and witnessed his friend’s death. Bajson and his friend were scheduled to meet before boarding a plane for a Colorado ski vacation. Sheryl Perry, 21, of Romeoville was arrested and charged with driving without insurance, failure to avoid a pedestrian, illegal transportation of alcohol and felony aggravated driving under the influence involving a death after police smelled alcohol on her breath. She refused to take a breathalyzer. She did admit to police to consuming alcohol prior to the accident. Perry’s bond has been set at $200,000.

ROSEMONT

Theft

$430 worth of pants were taken from a hotel room at the Double Tree Hotel on River road on March 3rd.

Feb. 28 – Vending machines were broken into at the Sheraton Chicago O’Hare on Mannheim Road and thieves took approximately $672 worth of merchandise.

March 23 – A woman reported her purse stolen from the Adobe Gilas Restaurant when she left it on a table and walked over to the bar. The purse was later found but a cellular telephone, two debit cards and a driver’s license were missing.

March 24 – A women reported her cell phone missing from the dressing room at the Rosemont Theater even though she claimed to have hidden it in a shoe.

Battery

Feb. 24 – Ryan Bass, 28 was charged with battery when he allegedly grabbed a security guard with both hands in the chest area and ripped his shirt. Refusing to comply with officers, he was stunned with a Taser. The altercation occurred at MB Financial Park at Rosemont.

Feb. 24 – A bouncer at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill was allegedly struck in the back with a closed fist by Jeffrey Bishop, 29 of Norridge while the bouncer was escorting Bishop’s fiancé out of the restaurant. He was detained and turned over to police.

March 17 – An employee of Toby Keith’s was allegedly grabbed by Jose Perez of Oak Lawn when the employee asked him to leave the premises. Perez was charged with battery.

March 17 – A 30 year old Rosemont man was struck during an altercation with Theodor Dinca, 23 of Chicago at the Park Tavern in Rosemont. Dinca was charged with battery.

Prostitution

March 13 – Two women from California were charged with prostitution when police conducting a vice investigation at 6155 River Road answered an on line ad. The women were arrested when they offered to perform sexual acts to undercover police for $800. Police also recovered $4,360 from the room that the suspects admitted were proceeds from their business.

March 13 – Undercover police officers arrested a woman from Miami, Florida at the Hyatt O’Hare when she offered to perform sexual acts for $450. Police also found $1,300 in the room allegedly from her enterprise.
