Emergency medical personnel needed to make their way to the man to determine if he was in fact deceased and not in need of medical attention. However police needed to preserve the scene for evidence. Police determined the safest route for EMS to take to get down to the man was through the backyard of a home located at Belle Plaine and Denley Avenue. Once EMS personnel approached the man they discovered a 3 to 4 inch slash across his neck and a small steak type knife stuck into his chest. They determined that he was deceased. After contacting State police, it was determined that the location of the incident was located in their jurisdiction and the investigation was turned over to them. When she told the man she did not know anything about any money owed to anyone and that her husband was down the block speaking to police, the man said he had the wrong house and jumped into a white Lincoln Navigator and left.
