NATIONAL PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE BACK INITIATIVE DAY

The Village of Schiller Park will be participating in the “National Take-Back Initiative” which is a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) national program aimed at reducing prescription drug abuse and accidental overdoses by encouraging residents to turn-in unneeded prescription pills. The event will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from the hours of 10 am to 2 pm.

Residents should come to the rear of the Fire Department located at 9526 W. Irving Park Road and turn-in any unneeded prescription pills to a police officer. The DEA will later destroy the pills, which is safer for the environment than throwing old drugs in the trash or flushing them down a toilet.

The only requirement is that the medication be in pill form (i.e. capsules or tablets). Liquids and needles will not be accepted.

Medications will be accepted with no questions asked and citizens further concerned about privacy can also remove or black-out prescription labels before handing-over any bottles.

Anyone with questions can contact Lieutenant Ed Ladonsky at 847-678-4794.
