Banned Books Movie Night                                                                                                                                                    Tuesday, September 24 at  6pm

We are celebrating Banned Books Week by screening the film adaptation of the recently challenged YA novel,  The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. The book was banned from a Glen Ellyn middle school earlier this year after parents complained about the book’s sexual content and explicit language. Students, teachers, and community members strongly voiced their opposition to the ban, and popular author Judy Blume spoke out against the book’s removal at this year’s Printer’s Row Lit Fest. Perks was eventually reinstated after a near-unanimous school board vote.
