WESTLAKE HOSPITAL OFFERS FREE MAMMOGRAMS IN OCTOBER

Melrose Park, Ill. (September 26, 2013) – Thanks to generous grant funding, Westlake Hospital is again offering free mammograms during the entire month of October to women residing in the following towns located in Proviso Township: Bellwood, Berkeley, Broadview, Forest Park, Hillside, Maywood, Melrose Park, Stone Park and Westchester. Every year in which Westlake Hospital has been able to extend this offer hundreds of women have been able to take advantage of the life-saving screenings.

Eligible women are able to schedule a free mammogram, regardless of insurance status and without any co-payment or out of pocket expense. Residents of the specified towns must be age 40 or older or over the age of 35 with a strong family history of breast cancer and have not had a previous mammogram within the last year. Mammogram appointments will be available six days a week with some evening appointments available. Appointments must take place by October 31 to qualify for this special offer.

“We are fortunate to receive this funding to offer these life-saving screenings,” says Dr. Stephen Smith, Medical Director for Radiology for Westlake Hospital and West Suburban Medical Center. “We know that annual mammograms save lives by reducing the incidence rate of advanced breast cancer and we hope that this special offer will help even more women to have access to such an important health service.”
