Yvonne Craig (Batgirl) Dies at 78

Yvonne-Craig-as-BatgirlTV actress, Yvonne Craig, best known for her role as Batgirl passed away at her home in California.  She had been fighting breast cancer for two years and it spread through her body.

Craig had also appeared in episodes of The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Star Trek, Voyage To The Bottom of The Sea, 77 Sunset Strip and The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis.  She also starred in two movies alongside Elvis Presley – It Happened At The Worlds Fair and Kissin’ Cousins and with James Coburn in In Like Flint.

She had begun her career as a dancer with The Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo until she was cast in her first movie The Young Land.

After her work on stage and screen she enjoyed a second career as a real estate broker and also went into business with her sister with prepaid phone cards.

She carried out philanthropic and charity work with joy and laughter.

Yvonne Craig  passed away at her home in Pacific Palisades surrounded by her family on Monday, August 17, 2015.
